Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam and Meghalaya from January 18

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam and Meghalaya from January 18.

He will participate in the Northeastern Council meeting and will inaugurate some projects in Guwahati. On January 18 Shah will inaugurate the Cyber Security Operational Center (CSOC) of Assam Rifles in Shillong.

Northeastern Council, Shillong will hold its one day plenary on 19th January, in the State Convention Centre, Shillong. NEC Chairman Shah will preside over the meeting. Union Minister, DoNER, Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy, who is, also, the Vice-Chairman of NEC and Minister of State, DoNER, B.L. Verma, including senior officers of MDoNER and NITI Aayog from New Delhi, will take part in the plenary.


All Governors and Chief Ministers of Northeast States including Chief Secretaries and other senior officers will participate in the plenary. Shah will release the NEC Yearbook on this occasion. A pre-interaction meeting with chief secretaries of NE States, Secretaries of Central Ministries, representatives of NITI Aayog, Director General (Assam Rifles) and planning Secretaries of NER will be organized on 18th January.

In Assam he will inaugurate a slew of development projects in the state including a part of the Brahmaputra Riverfront Beautification project in Guwahati’s Panbazar area.

Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika informed that Shah would take part in three government programmes in Guwahati including the passing parade programme of Assam Police at Sarusajai Stadium during his visit. “We will accord the Union Home Minister a grand welcome and about 60,000 BJP party.
