Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviews BJP's Assam poll prep, alliance with AGP intact
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is in Assam for a two-day visit to review BJP's preparations for the upcoming assembly election. He attended the BJP's core committee meeting in Guwahati and will address a Panchayat Convention.

Shah is on a two-day visit to Assam. On Friday, he will sound the poll bugle at a Panchayat Convention in Guwahati. The state is expected to go to polls early next year, with BJP eyeing a third straight term. The party has already decided to continue its alliance with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and jointly contest the elections.
Shah posted on X: "Leaving for Assam on a two-day tour. Today, will chair the BJP's core committee meeting in Guwahati. Tomorrow morning will initiate the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory to bolster cyber security in the region along with various other projects. Later in the day will address the 'NDA Panchayat Pratinidhi Sammelan' and the Birth Centenary Celebration of former CM Golap Borbora Ji. Eager to meet the enthusiastic people of Assam."
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday, "Assam election is very important, and the Union home minister takes keen interest in Assam. On 28 August, when the BJP core committee meeting is held, we will get a lot of marg darshan (guidance) from him. Politically too, his visit is significant."
On Friday, Shah will inaugurate the new Raj Bhavan building and launch the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Assam's first non-Congress Chief Minister Golap Borbora.
State BJP president Dilip Saikia said the Panchayat convention would mark BJP's poll push. "The home minister will address NDA partners. On Friday, we will once again pledge to bring back the NDA government for a third consecutive term."
