Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley meets AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa

CHENNAI: In a very quiet affair, Union finance minister Arun Jaitley called on former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence late Sunday evening.

Sources in the know said there were no special security arrangements made for the high-profile meeting nor were there any media alerts ahead of the meeting. An official release from AIADMK party headquarters said that it was a courtesy meeting that lasted for about 40 minutes.

A convoy of about seven cars, one of which was carrying the Union finance minister, entered Poes Garden at around 8.45 pm, sources said. Arun Jaitley was in Chennai to attend a wedding on Sunday. He will participate in a CII meeting in the city on Monday morning before leaving for New Delhi.
