UNC seeks Centre’s intervention in Manipur crisis
GUWAHATI: United Naga Council ( UNC) has sought Centre’s intervention in Manipur.

There was firing when security force were escorting the trucks in Manipur on Thrusday. The incident has sparked fresh row with UNC strongly condemning the firing which took place at Khumji village by the Manipur State security forces who were escorting the trucks carrying different commodities from Jiribam to Imphal. One person was killed in the incident and two others were injured.

UNC sponsored economic blockade which started on November 1 last year has paralyzed economy of the state.

UNC stated, “If Manipur is a part of India, should the Government of India go on allowing and let the communal Government of Manipur free to do anything it wanted to do without listening to the voices of the people. UNC urges the Government of India for immediate intervention.”

UNC is unrelenting to remove the economic blockade despite state is going to polls. According to UNC, “All such unwanted eventuality could have been avoided had O. Ibobi Singh and his government had upheld and honoured the letter and spirit of the four Memorandum of Understandings(MoUS) signed between the Government of Manipur and the Naga people and also, the written assurance given by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.”
