Two major militant organisations today said that they would check the price rise of kerosene in Manipur and bring it down to Rs 14 per litre.
The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) said in a joint statement that some ministers and senior officials besides some militant outfits were taking kerosene meant for the common masses.
Kerosene which at present is being sold at Rs 30 or above in the black market would be made available to the common man only through authorised government agents at Rs 4 per litre, the statement said.
Official sources, however, refused to comment. They, however, admitted that kerosene was being sold at Rs 30 or above in the black market.
