GUWAHATI: Anti-talk Ulfa militants also known as ULFA (Independent) has owned up responsibility for firing in Namrup in Dibrugarh district on Monday. Two persons belonging to Hindi speaking community were injured in the attack.

An Assam based Bhojpuri association and BJP protested against the killing on Tuesday. They burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi alleging that he has failed to give protection to Hindi speaking community. BJP alleged that Chief Minister has provoked by his remark on Hindi speaking. BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma said that remark against some community by chief minister might have provoked some organisation."Chief minister must refrain rom making such remark."

Gogoi on Monday said that he is not against Hindi speaking BJP leaders but he is against the Hindigiri of Central BJP leaders. Gogoi's remark on BJP's national leaders for trying to impose Hindi pronounciations on Assamese names and described the same as invasion of Hindi-speaking people has snowballed into a political debate.

Gogoi has rushed the forest minister Atuwa Munda to Namrup to take stock of the situation.
