Ulfa signs ceasefire pact with govt

As part of the ongoing peace process, ULFA and the govt on Saturday signed an agreement to end violence in the state and set the ball rolling for talks.

NEW DELHI: As part of the ongoing peace process, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and the government on Saturday signed an agreement to end violence in the state and set the ball rolling for talks . The Suspension of Operation (SoO) - bilateral ceasefire - pact, signed by representatives of central and Assam governments and ULFA, will ensure that the outfit will not carry out subversive activities till a political solution to the insurgency is found. The security forces won't take action against ULFA cadres.
