ULFA denies links with HuJI, involvement in blasts

ULFA denied having any links with HuJI or other Islamic fundamentalist organisations and said the state govt is running a misinformation campaign against the group by holding it responsible for Assam blasts.

GUWAHATI: The banned ULFA on Sunday denied having any links with HuJI or other Islamic fundamentalist organisations and said the state government is running a misinformation campaign against the group by holding it responsible for Thursday's blasts.

The ULFA alleged the government had launched a "misinformation campaign that it had carried out the blasts along with HuJI.

"We strongly refute these charges and would like to clarify to all people of Assam that ULFA has been never associated with any fundamental organisation in the past and neither will it do so in the future," said an editorial in the latest issue of ULFA mouthpiece Freedom.

The group also came down heavily on Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who had said that there was no difference between ULFA and jehadis and they operate in cahoots.

"The minister's statement is highly irresponsible and is mainly aimed to create suspicion and doubts in the minds of the people of Assam and the world," he said.
