Ukraine shows interest in India's unmanned moon mission Chandrayaan-II

Ukraine today expressed interest in cooperating with India in its second unmanned moon mission --Chandrayaan-II.

NEW DELHI: Ukraine today expressed interest in cooperating with India in its second unmanned moon mission --Chandrayaan-II.

"We are interested in cooperation by Ukrainian companies in the new space mission Chandrayaan-II," Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said here at a function jointly organised by Assocham, Ficci and CII.

Chandrayaan-II, which is expected to be launched in September 2013, is a lunar landing mission, while the earlier one (Chandrayaan--I) was only an orbiter.

People's Deputy of Ukraine Anatoliy Kinakh said that in Ukraine, "There is an advanced cosmic station which would help a lot for Chandrayaan-II."

There is a potential for cooperation in the field of construction of aeroplanes and ship building, he added.
