UK terror plot: Sabeel charged by British police
Detained Indian doctor Sabeel Ahmedt, was today charged by British police with having information that could prevent an act of terrorism.
The 26-year-old doctor, who was detained on June 30 in Liverpool, has become the third person to be charged in connection with last month's botched car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.
Iraqi doctor Bilal Abdulla, who was the passenger of the jeep allegedly driven by Sabeel's brother Kafeel Ahmed, was the first suspect to be charged last week with conspiring to cause explosions in Britain. Another Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef, who has been held in Australia, was today charged with providing "reckless" support to a terrorist organisation.
The Metropolitan Police here said in a statement that Sabeel has been charged with having information that could prevent an act of terrorism.
Sabeel was charged under the Terrorism Act 2000 and is expected to appear before City of Westminster Magistrates Court in central London on Monday.
