UAE business delegation vists Kerala

A high level business delegation from the UAE on Friday held discussions with Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to explore the possibility of investing in the state.


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high level business delegation from the UAE on Friday held discussions with Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to explore the possibility of investing in the state.

The delegation was led by Younis Haji Al Khoori, Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Industry, UAE,.

The delegation expressed keen interest in investing in areas such as power, petro-chemical industries, road development and Financial sector, State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem, also present at the meeting, told reporters.

This was only a preliminary discussion and the delegation would return after conducting feasibility study of the projects, he said.

It was expected that a final picture on investments would emerge by February next, he said adding 'MOU can be signed by that time.'

Khoori said 'we are interested in some of the projects presented to us and would like to invest in the state.' However,he said it was difficult to say now the size of investment.

Yousef Ali, Director, Abu Dhabi, Chamber of Commerce, government of UAE, was among those present at the meeting.
