Two-yr-old boy pulled out of borewell dead
Sonu, the two-and-a-half-year-old boy, who fell into a 150-foot borewell in Shamshabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, has been pulled out by Army personnel. According to TV reports the boy is dead.
The boy, who was pulled out in an unconscious state, was taken to SN Hospital in Agra. Sonu was trapped in the borewell for more than 90 hours
The incident occurred four months after a two-year-old girl, Vandana, was rescued by the Army from a similar borewell in the same district following a marathon 26-hour mission.
Police claimed Sonu, who fell into the borewell while playing with other kids on Thursday morning, was stuck somewhere in the middle of the open well of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam at Leharkapura village, 30 km from Agra. .
Army personnel took over the rescue operation. A parallel pit was dug and oxygen supplied through a pipeline to keep the boy alive. A team of doctors headed by Dr N C Prajapati, principal of S N Medical College, Agra, were camping at the site.
Sources said the Army personnel were using the same techniques which saved Vandana. A posse of TV cameramen and journalists has been camping at the site.
The borewell into which the boy fell was just one foot in diameter and it was impossible for a man to go down into it.
