GANDHINAGAR: To step up surveillance along the coastline of Gujarat, the state government has installed two radars which will help locate landmarks and ships, a senior government official said today.

"Two radars have been installed along the coast for detection of ships and locating landmarks," Additional Chief Secretary (Home) S K Nanda told reporters after speaking at the inauguration of a training course on `advanced issues and practises of law of sea and maritime law' at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) here.

He also said biometric cards have been given to fishermen.

Transponders will also be installed soon along the coast, he said, adding the union government has taken up the project.
