Two LeT operatives brought to Mumbai for 26/11 attack probe

MUMBAI: Two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives, Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin, were brought here tonight from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the November 26 terror attacks in the city, police said.

The Crime Branch had sought the custody of the duo on the grounds that they may have had prior information about the attack on the financial capital or may have provided inputs to terror groups across the border.

Ansari, arrested in February this year by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, had allegedly carried out reconnaissance missions at several locations across the metropolis, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, one of the sites of the terror strikes.

Crime Branch officials had said they would consider interrogating the duo with arrested terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman in order to verify possible links.

The duo, to be produced in a local court tomorrow, was arrested for their alleged involvement in the attack on CRPF camp in Rampur, UP, on December 31, 2007.
