Two held at Karipur airport for possessing narcotics

Two persons were arrested at the Karipur airpport here today for possessing about 40 kgs of narcotics, police said.

KOZHIKODE: Two persons were arrested at the Karipur airpport here today for possessing about 40 kgs of narcotics, police said.

The duo were holding valid documents and were about to board a Sri Lankan Arilines flight when sleuths of Direcorate of Revenue Intelligence questioned them in the security hall, the sources said.

Customs officials alerted the DRI when they grew suspicious seeing the two wandering in the visitors lounge to get their package cleared in which the narcotics were hidden, they said.

Sri Lankan Airlines station manager, Mohammed Mansoor told PTI that the Airlines had issued them boarding passes to get into the flight, scheduled to take off at 9.55 am 'after they produced valid documents'.

However, the flight departed as scheduled after the duo were taken away by police, he said.
