PATAN (GUJARAT): Two days after its inauguration by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel, syphon system of Narmada canal network at Zazam village in Santalpur tehsil of Patan district in Kutch developed a breach today, said officials.

"A hair-line leakage in the syphon led to the breach. This would be repaired by tomorrow evening. Due to the leakage, water has collected in two farms near the canal," circle officer H S Jobanputra said.

"A team of engineers is there to repair the syphon. No damage has been done to the farms nearby," he added.

Four JCB machines and a cement-grouting machine was pressed into action, another official said.

The 2,550 meters long canal syphon was built at the coast of Rs 386 crore.
