Two-day CPIM state committee to decide march to Nabanna date

CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yechuri will attend the two-day state committee meeting to be held from February 22. It is learnt that the peasants wing of the party, All Indian Kishan Sabha (AIKS) is the key unit of the party which will take lead role in the Left's "March to Nabanna" agitation. AIKS leader and CPIM polit bureau member Hannan Mollah said that they would be able to mobilise more than lakhs of people for the agitation.
A senior state CPIM leader told ET on Tuesday that the date for "March to Nabanna" will be finalized during the two-day state committee meeting of the party. Without approval of the state committee, the date for the agitation would not be announced officially, even though our leaders have preliminary decided to go for the agitation on May 8."
In 2015, senior CPIM leaders like party's polit bureau member Biman Bose received injuries while taking part in the Nabanna march agitation. This time, the CPIM is planning to hold the agitation simultaneously from two cities of Kolkata and Howrah. The state administrative headquarters Nabanna is located in Howrah district. The CPIM is planning to hold rallies from both Kolkata and Howrah which will try to move towards Nabanna.
