Twitter deletes fake account of Urjit Patel

Twitter has deleted the fake handle of the to be Reserve Bank of India governor Urjit Patel on Tuesday. The Twitter handle @urjitpatel_ gained many followers soon after government announced that the deputy governor Patel will take charge at RBI after Raghuram Rajan demits office on September 4.

The fake handle, opened in June this year, appeared real since it had Patel profit photo as DP with Reserve Bank of India's logo as background and it followed just one handle - the official handle of RBI.

The fake handle also got many followers after finance minister Arun Jaitley and Nirmala Sitharaman union minister for commerce and industry tagged the fake handle to congratulate Patel.

The handle had over 10000 followers but was not endorsed by Twitter with a blue tick.

Even the current RBI governor Rajan does not have a twitter handle.
