Twist in 2G probe: Delphi owners are based in Switzerland

Documents received from Mauritius in 2G probe have revealed that owners of Delphi Investment Ltd were based in Switzerland, not Mauritius.

NEW DELHI: Documents received from Mauritius in the 2G scam probe have revealed that owners of Delphi Investment Limited were based in Switzerland, not Mauritius, CBI sources said. The agency will now send a Letter Rogatory to Switzerland to know more about the company's office, balance sheet, ownership pattern and other details.

Officials said this was an important clue as they were already investigating the alleged quid pro quo angle in Switzerland. Apart from that, CBI is also sending another LR to Mauritius seeking more details in the 2G spectrum scam.

"Delphi Investment is located in Port Louis, Mauritius but documents show that its owners are in Switzerland. We are checking all the documents received from Mauritius and have got important leads for the next chargesheet, which will be filed by August 31," said a source.

The agency had earlier sent LR to Mauritius and a team had visited the country to get information on Delphi Investments Limited and others including Maavi Investments Ltd, Capital Global Ltd, Black Lion Ltd, Inditel Holdings, Deccan Asian Infrastructure, Aidtel Holding, Kaif Investments, Electro Investments Ltd and Palab Investments to investigate their alleged roles in the 2G scam. There are allegations that these companies acted as front companies for routing money in the scam.

"We have got documents of all these companies but we need some more information about a few of these firms, so another LR will be sent soon. We have got enough evidence against Loop Telecom and chargesheet would be filed on time. In fact, report is almost ready and some last minute changes will be made in it later," said the officer.

CBI has already filed two chargesheets in 2G scam, in which former telecom minister A Raja, DB Realty promoter Shahid Balwa, Unitech's Sanjay Chandra, DMK MP Kanimozhi and several telecom officials have been named. Officials said the third chargesheet would be important as at least two private telecom companies were going to be named in it.
