NEW DELHI: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa today said that there is a proposal to launch a separate TV channel to live telecast proceedings of Legislative Assembly and Council in the state.

Talking to reporters here, Thimmappa said that a delegation including Law Minister T B Jayachandra studied the functioning of Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV.

"We have seen it here. After going to the state, we would meet the Chief Minister and all others concerned. We would sit together and take a decision," the Karnataka Assembly Speaker said.

Noting that the proceedings of Legislative Assembly and Council should be shown to the pubic "as it is", Thimmappa, however, said that there was no time frame on when the TV channel would be launched.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Law Minister Jayachandra said the decision on whether to restrict the channel to the session period or run it throughout year is yet to be taken.
