A Turkish connection to Atal Tunnel
The electromechanical works of the Tunnel was undertaken by a Turkish firm Savronik which has track record of infrastructure projects in Turkey and other countries.
They are responsible also for the maintenance for next two years as part of the contract for the Tunnel, ET has learnt.
Savronik has also been involved on the Jammu-Srinagar railway link which will have 13 tunnels. Savronik's partnership is with Piscesia (Indian company, also dealing with electromechanical works) under Joint Venture. Both are involved in another project in Assam. Savronik has 49 per cent share in all projects.
Being a spin-off company of a world-wide known Turkish pioneering contractor Group “STFA”, Savronik has its roots and operations domestically and in many countries world-wide. Established in 1986, Savronik has later expanded the operations in the Transportation area with technology offerings and integrated turnkey solutions for railway and highway systems, to become the largest Turkish private company in this sector.
