Turban talk: The headgear PM Modi wore this I-Day
“The PM’s turban sported the colours of Rajasthan in the Lehariya dyeing technique of the state, but is probably done straight instead of the more popular diagonal style.

The turban, it seems, was hand dipped and dyed and was of ‘Malmal’ fabric,” Jaya Jaitly points out She says Modi usually picks the ‘ pagdi’ of Rajasthan and Gujarat traditions for most ceremonial events.

On 2015 I-Day address, PM wore a Rajasthani bandhani turban in red. He chose a saffron turban for Republic Day this year. Jaitly notes his turbans are almost always handmade, hand-woven. She gives him full points for wearing traditional ‘pagdi’ without overdoing it.
