Srinagar: Political parties in J&K on Sunday condemned the US strikes on Iran, stating that dialogue is the way forward and that Iran cannot be suppressed with brute aggression. PDP leader and a former CM of J&K, Mehbooba Mufti, said the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation had limited its response to mere lip service. Without naming Pakistan, she said "the country that rushed to recommend Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize now finds itself with egg on its face after he attacked Iran".

Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said Israel had violated all international rules and now the US aggression on Iran had further pushed West Asia to the edge of destruction and chaos. "We strongly condemn it. Military strength cannot guarantee immunity, nor bombs and blockades protection. Unless justice is delivered to the people of Palestine, security of middle eastern nations will remain uncertain... And dialogue is the way to resolutions and peace," he said.

'Iran remembers Karbala'

Former CM of J&K and president of the ruling National Conference Farooq Abdullah said that Israel has destroyed Gaza which some company related to the US President wants now to turn into a picnic and pleasure spot. He said the US mistakenly believes that Iran will surrender and drop the arms. "Iran remembers Karbala and they think of this attack as the second Karbala. They would prefer to die rather than surrender as that is what Hazrat Hussain (RA) had done in Karbala. He did not succumb to the power," he said.
