AGARTALA: Hoisting the tri-colour at the Assam Rifles ground here on the 65th Republic day, Tripura Governor Devanand Konwar today said the state has set an example of good governance and raised a high moral of democracy.

The state has earned an award for best governance in the country this year from a publication house which is independent and has no political interest and the people in this state had cast 93.5 per cent votes in the last assembly election which showed how strong democracy is here, he said.

"The state has set an example of good governance and raised a high moral of democracy," he said.

"I am also happy to note that the state of Tripura has been making appreciable progress in different sectors. The extremist activities in Tripura have been contained and the law and order situation has improved," he said.

The Governor also took salute from paramilitary Tripura State Rifles (TSR), CRPF, BSF, state police and NCC.
