Tripura's Chief Minister, Manik Saha, is expected to expand his council of ministers on Thursday, with BJP MLA Kishor Barman likely to be inducted. This expansion comes as the BJP-led government begins its second consecutive term, with allies IPFT...

On March 8, 2023, the BJP-led government came to power for the second consecutive term. A senior BJP leader who does not want to be named said, “ The swearing in will take place on Thursday. Kishor Barman, BJP MLA from Nalchar Assembly constituency is likely to be inducted in the council of ministry.”
BJP allies including Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) and Tipra Motha Party (TMP) have three ministers while the rest belong to BJP.
Indigenous People's Front of Tripura and its lone MLA Sukla Charan Noatia is a cabinet minister.
The BJP-IPFT alliance had retained power in Tripura by winning 32 seats in the 60-member assembly.
The TMP, which contested the elections for the first time, won 13 of the 42 seats it contested for, emerging as the second largest party after the BJP.
In 2024 TMP joined the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura.
The TMP became a political force in April 2021 after it wrested power in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. The TTAADC has jurisdiction over two-thirds of Tripura's 10,491 sq km area, and is home to over 1,21,6000 people, of which around 84% are tribals.
