Watch: Tripura CM says mechanical engineers shouldn't opt for civil services
Tripura chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, has said that mechanical engineers should not apply for the civil services, but civil engineers should.

Speaking at an event in the state capital, Agartala, on Civil Service Day, he said, “Earlier, people from the arts stream used to become civil servants. Later, doctors and engineers opted for the civil services. However mechanical engineers should not opt for the civil services, and civil engineers should, for civil services in administration need to build a society and civil engineers have that knowledge.”

Deb had started a controversy last week when he said that there was internet in the times of the Mahabharata. Two days ago, he questioned beauty pageant shows and said that they are mostly fixed and controlled by marketing mafias.

Deb also went on to challenge the West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, saying that in three years the growth of Tripura would be higher than that of West Bengal.
