Tripura: BJP central observer Vinod Kumar Sonkar says there are no differences within the party

GUWAHATI: With some leaders in Tripura dissatisfied with functioning of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP's central observer Vinod Kumar Sonkar said that there are no differences within the party.

Sonkar while talking to media persons in Agartala said that following COVID-19 situation there was no central observer. Party leaders and MLAs expressed their views and it was discussed.

He added, "There are issues like cabinet expansion and organisational revamp. I have discussed every matter with the ministers, MLAs and party functionaries. Discussions will continue in the future too to strengthen the party in Tripura and better coordinate between the party and the government."


There were slogan raised by some party workers against state leadership. Sonkar outside the state guest house assured these people that he will listen to them.

Sonkar was appointed party's observer for the state last month. Last October, four MLAs had met party President J.P. Nadda.

BJP in alliance with the tribal based party Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) in the 2018 assembly polls defeated the Communist Party of India-Marxist led Left Front after 25 years.

In the 60-member Tripura assembly, the BJP had won 36 seats and the IPFT eight while the Communist Party of India-Marxist won 16 seats.
