Kolkata: Trinamool Congress goes all out on attacking the security breach of the Parliament on Wednesday afternoon with its senior leaders raising concern about the severe lapse in safety and issuance of pass by BJP MP Pratap Simha. Trinamool leadership demanded immediate expulsion of Simha, who put the safety of legislators at risk inside the Central Vista, the new Parliament building, by issuing passes to two persons.

Trinamool MPs and MLAs also slammed the Central government for expelling Trinamool Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra for allegedly sharing her login credentials.

Senior Trinamool MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar called the incident “a total intelligence failure” and a serious breach of security. “They [accused] entered with a pass of a BJP MP from Karnataka. If Mahua Moitra can be expelled for breaching national security, then why [no action] against this BJP MP, whose connivance brought these miscreants into the Lok Sabha and created this security lapse?”

“This could have been fatal and MPs could have died. The whole nation demands punishment for the MP who brought them in and caused this security lapse,” she said.

Trinamool MP Jawhar Sircar said it was a matter of “national shame” that “the highest institution of our democracy was under threat today.”

Trinamool National Spokesperson and state minister Shashi Panja said, “Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Parliament based on claims that she shared her login details putting our national security at risk. She was expelled from the Parliament after a mere 30-minute discussion. Will the BJP not expel their MP Pratap Simha who issued the passes to the accused putting the Parliament and around 500 lawmakers at risk?”

“This is the failure of security at the highest level and ironically on the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament attack…This is a complete lapse of security and we demand to know why this happened. The entire Opposition walked out of the Rajya Sabha today in protest,” he said.

AITC said in its X Handle, "Our MP Mahua Moitra was unjustly expelled for allegedly breaching national security by sharing her login credentials. Today @BJP4Karnataka MP @mepratap put the security of the entire Parliament at risk by issuing a visitor's pass to the intruders. What is stopping him from getting expelled? Why should a similar treatment not be meted out to him? What gives him the right to continue as a Parliamentarian after jeopardising the safety of fellow MPs?"
