Trinamool ministers visit Sandeshkhali

Two Trinamool ministers - Partha Bhowmik and Sujit Bose - visited SandeshKhali area in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Sunday to listen to people who have been protesting against the local leaders and alleging sexual assault on women and land grabbing incidents.

"The situation is normalising slowly. I urge people to come and lodge their complaints," Bhowmick, who is in-charge of North 24 Parganas district, said.

Meanwhile, Trinamool leader Ajit Maity, who is a close aide of Shahjahan Sheikh had to take refuge in a neighbour's house as some women gheraoed his house and protested against him in Sandeshkhali's Bermajur. After rescuing Maity following three hours of protest, police detained the Trinamool leader.


Meanwhi;e, breaking his silence over the alleged sexual assault on women in Sandeshkhali, Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee today said that his party was not shielding anyone and if anyone has done anything wrong, the Trinamool government will take stringent action against them."

Attacking the BJP, Banerjee said, "The BJP leaders followed by various committees are visiting Sandeshkhali on alternate basis as they have been instructed from New Delhi to keep this issue alive and to maintain the media hype."
