BURDWAN: Protesting the heckling of West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra in Delhi by SFI protestors, the Trinamool Congress lawyer's cell today demonstrated outside the Burdwan district court compound.

"A state cabinet minister comes under atttack in broad daylight in a place like New Delhi. Unthinkable. We condemn and demand exemplary punishment for those involved," a lawyers' cell spokesman said.

The members of Trinamool Mahila Cell took out a rally during the day which went round Burdwan town.

Mitra was heckled by protesters who tore his kurta during a protest by left regarding the death of a SFI West Bengal unit member.

A group of protesters from left organisations, which waited for Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee outside the Planning Commission's office, raised slogans against her when she arrived with Mitra at 3:45 PM to meet plan panel Deputy Chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

Banerjee, who was advised by police not to get down from her car and drive inside, however, chose to walk through the slogan-shouting and placard-wielding crowd into the building.
