Kolkata: The crisis within the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress deepened further as the party filed four separate complaints at four different police stations in Kolkata and its adjoining areas against the dissident faction led by Leader of Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee.

All four complaints alleged the unauthorised use of the party's logo during mass programmes organised by the dissident faction and the announcement of party MLA Arup Roy as the Trinamool chairperson, replacing Mamata Banerjee.

One of the complaints, lodged by Trinamool joint national secretary Dola Sen, stated: "This is to inform you that on the afternoon of June 22, 2026, Arup Roy, Ritabrata Banerjee, Javed Khan, Sandipan Saha, Biplab Mitra and others forged the symbol and impersonated the name of Trinamool Congress and held a 'gathering' at Novotel Kolkata Hotel, New Town, at 5 pm, using a backdrop and posters designed with the forged party symbol and impersonated party name to give an impression to leaders, workers and supporters that it was a 'Special Session of Trinamool'."

The complaint described the matter as "Information under Section 173 of BNSS, 2023 regarding forgery of Symbol and impersonation of Name" of Trinamool by Roy, Ritabrata, Khan, Saha, Mitra and others. In its complaint at Kalighat Police Station, the Mamata camp named Ritabrata, Roy, Khan, Saha and Mitra, alleging that they were attempting to run a parallel organisation by projecting themselves as office-bearers of Trinamool without authorisation from the party leadership.

In its complaint filed at New Town P.S., the Mamata faction also sought an investigation into those allegedly operating behind the scenes of the dissident movement and questioned the source of funds used to organise meetings, print publicity material and run social media campaigns in the party's name. Notably, during an organisational conference of Trinamool in 2022, delegates voted in favour of retaining Mamata as party's chairperson for life, people familiar with the matter said.
