KOLKATA: The Trinamool Congress trade union today came under fire for allegedly organising a 'vulgar' dance programme during an Independence day celebration in the city which caused quite a flutter after the event was aired by many TV channels.

In a prompt response later in the day, the TMC leadership came down heavily on the organisers of the programme and said they will be shunted out of the party.

The incident came to light after a video footage was played in various TV channels where a scantily dressed woman was shown dancing to the tunes of a Bhojpuri song at an Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC)-organised programme on the Independence day in Esplanade area of the city.

State Power minister and INTTUC leader Sovan Deb Chattopadhyay said he condemned such act and that the party did not support these kind of vulgar shows.

He affirmed that the organisers of the event will be thrown out of the party.
