The Trinamool is mobilising MGNREGA job-card holders to write one crore letters addressed to the Prime Minister, demanding the release of the state's share of funds under the rural job guarantee scheme. "I will request the booth-level workers to collect the names of the job-card holders who have not received money after working in the MGNREGA schemes. We will send the letters to the Prime Minister from Bengal," Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said on Saturday at a public rally in Alipurduar. He claimed that there were 20 lakh workers who had not received money under the scheme.
"I will take all these letters to New Delhi. We will see if the Centre can stop us from entering with letters from one crore people of Bengal. Altogether 1.38 crore families in the state have registered for 100 days' work...," Banerjee said.
