Three Congress supporters have been injured in a post poll clash at Shampurmirpara in Howrah district, police said.

HOWRAH: Three Congress supporters have been injured in a post poll clash at Shampurmirpara in Howrah district, police said today.

The incident occurred when Trinamool Congress and Congress supporters clashed in the area last night.

Congress secretary of Shampur block 1 party committee Rabin Purakayeet in his complaint lodged at Shampur police station said that party supporters, including two women, were beaten up and their houses damaged.

One of the injured was admitted to Uluberia hospital, the police said.

Shampur MLA Kalipada Mandal of Trinamool Congress denied the incident.

Trinamool Congress had won the recent panchayat election in the area after a neck and neck contest with the Congress.
