Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday provided his voice sample to a judicial magistrate at the Bidhannagar court in connection with an investigation into his alleged intimidatory speech during the West Bengal assembly election campaign. The case is being probed by the Criminal Investigations Department.

The Calcutta High Court had on July 10 directed Abhishek to appear before the Bidhannagar court by 12 noon on July 15 to provide his voice sample in the presence of a judicial magistrate.

The court had warned that a financial penalty could be imposed if Abhishek failed to appear before the Bidhannagar court by the deadline.
