Trinamool Cong relieved at Mitra's bail : Partha
KOLKATA: Ruling Trinamool Congress today said the party was "relieved" after West Bengal minister Madan Mitra secured bail in the Saradha ponzi scam case.

"Today we are feeling relieved as Mitra got bail today in the Saradha case, which once again vindicates our stand that none of our party members are involved in the scam," Secretary General of Trinamool Congress Partha Chatterjee told reporters here.

He alleged that CBI had falsely implicated Mitra who was then holding charge of both transport and sports departments.

Chatterjee said "no amount of nasty politicking will be able to tarnish the image of Trinamool Congress under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee."

While the sports portfolio was being looked after by another cabinet minister Arup Biswas, the transport portfolio remained under Mitra during his 324-day stay in jail.

Mitra was arrested by CBI in December, 2014 during the Saradha probe process.
