KOLKATA: With the arrest of Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, the party has resorted to blocking rail tracks, roads and highways.

Massive protests by thousands of Trinamool Congress supporters shut down the NH2 that passes through Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The blockades on the national highway were put near Burdwan and Dankuni.

The supporters also blocked the highway in West Midnapore district too. Hundreds of trucks and vehicles were stranded due to the blockade.

Apart from the highway, the protestors obstructed the city roads and blocked the rail tracks hampering the train movement in Howrah and Sealdah divisions.
