Transport lobby extends support to Bharat Bandh on December 8
“We whole-heartedly support the cause of the farmers and look forward to a peaceful and amicable resolution of their issues raised by the Government,” All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) said in a statement.

“We whole-heartedly support the cause of the farmers and look forward to a peaceful and amicable resolution of their issues raised by the Government,” All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) said in a statement.
This comes after another transport lobby said its members would not be participating in the shutdown.
Transport association and union leaders from across the country provided their unanimous support for the suspension, AIMTC claimed.
“Earlier it was decided that the transport fraternity from northern India will participate in the Bharat Bandh, but now it has been resolved in the meeting that transport associations and unions in other parts of the country will join the Bharat Bandh and suspend their operations on December 8, 2020.”
"Commercial markets across the country will remain open and business activities will take place as usual whereas the transport services will also remain operative on December 8," the statement read.
Farmers are staging a protest at the borders of the national capital against the government's three new farm laws and have called for a national shutdown of commercial activities in protest on Tuesday.
