Traffic Police get upgraded bikes to disciple motorists

The bikes will be deployed on arterial roads and highways to discipline errant motorists, especially heavy traffic vehicles and buses during evening and night hours.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Commissioner today flagged off 24 remodelled and upgraded motorcycles of Traffic Police to discipline errant motorists especially during evening and night hours.

Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi flagged off the bikes during an event here at the Police Headquarters.

Speaking at the event, Bassi said, "These motorcycles will also act as Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) and will be deployed in two shifts."

The bikes will be deployed on arterial roads and highways to discipline errant motorists, especially heavy traffic vehicles and buses during evening and night hours, he said.

"It is a continuing process and all motorcycles deployed in traffic unit shall be remodelled and upgraded in phases in near future," Additional Commissioner Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla said.

The motorcycles have blinkers at both front and rear end, a pole-mounted blinker light at the rear for better visibility and a visor to protect the traffic policemen during winter and in case of accident.

They are also equipped with sirens, helmet fitted with cordless microphone and loudhailer. They also have charging facility for e-challan machine.
