Small and medium traders in West Bengal called a 24-hour trade bandh on December 1 to protest the Centre allowing foreign investment in multi-brand retail.

KOLKATA: Small and medium traders in West Bengal today called a 24-hour trade bandh on December 1 to protest the Centre allowing foreign investment in multi-brand retail.

The Confederation of West Bengal Trade Associations (CWBTA), the apex body of the most prominent trade associations of the state, having over five lakh small and medium level traders, said in a press release that all sister trade bodies are supporting the bandh call.

Chief Spokesman and Founder-President of the trade body Feroze H Ali said in the release that the decision was taken in a meeting of the executive committee during the day.
