Tourism gallery on river Cauvery to be set up in Mysuru

The gallery, which will come up in Mysuru, will provide information about the river's origin, its history, importance, how it has transformed the life of farmers, the threats it is facing, to visiting tourists.
Mysuru is one of the biggest tourism attractions in Karnataka with its grand palaces, and gets large number of European tourists every year. The city is also internationally known for the edge it has established in Yoga teaching.
Tourism Minister RV Deshpande made an announcement to this effect in Bengaluru and said chief minister Siddaramaiah has already set aside Rs 3.5 crore for the project in the 2015-16 Karnataka Budget.
The State Government has roped in the National Science Academy for the project. The Academy, in turn, has collaborated with the National Science Museum to implement the project, which is expected to be completed in a few months, the minister said.
The Science Museum will also run the gallery for the first three years before handing it over to the state tourism department. The museum officials will also provide the tourism staff with necessary training.
