Too early to comment on Sanjay getting Cong ticket: Hegde
The Congress has welcomed Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's comment that if he does contest, it will be only for their party, but is yet to take a decision on whether to give him a ticket for next year's Lok Sabha elections.
"It is too early to comment on ticket allocation the decision rests with the high command," Mumbai Congress spokesman Krishna Hegde said on Wednesday.
"The party is satisfied with Sanjay's statement where he has said that if he does contest, it will be on a Congress ticket. In the last ten days, there has been unnecessary speculation over Sanjay's political plans and it is good that he has clarified his stand," Hegde said.
Sanjay told a national daily in an interview from Bahamas where he is shooting for "Blue" that if he does contest, it will be on a Congress ticket and rubbished reports that Samajwadi Party has sent him feelers to join it.
The Bollywood star, in the newspaper interview, stated that he was confident that the party would give both him and his sister Priya Dutt tickets to contest the elections.
The actor has also said that he would like to follow in his late father, Sunil Dutt's footsteps and enter politics.
