Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi visit landslide-hit Chooralmala in Kerala's Wayanad
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, visited the landslide-affected areas of Chooralmala on Thursday. The landslides, which were triggered by torrential rains, have claimed 173 lives, including women and children.

Congress leaders, aided by rescue teams and paramilitary forces, are visiting multiple locations of the landslide-hit region to take stock of the damages and devastation.

On deaths due to Wayanad landslides, Congress MP & LoP Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi says, "Today, I feel how I felt when my father died. Here people have not just lost a father but an entire family. We all owe these people respect and affection. The whole nation's attention is towards Wayanad."



"We have spent a whole day meeting people who have suffered. It's an immense tragedy. We can only imagine the kind of pain the people are suffering. We are here to give as much comfort and support. There has been a big tragedy in Himachal Pradesh as well. Tomorrow, we plan to sit and chalk out how we can help especially the children who are left on their own now," said Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra after meeting Wayanad landslides survivors.

Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi arrived amidst heavy rain and immediately proceeded to assess the damage in Chooralmala. The duo then visited the Community Health Centre in Meppadi, followed by Dr. Moopen's Medical College and two relief camps in the area. They were joined by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal and other party members.

The Congress leader, who has a personal connection to Wayanad, having won the Lok Sabha seat in 2019, pledged ongoing support to the affected families. Although he had to relinquish his seat in favor of Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, his bond with Wayanad remains strong, with speculations of Priyanka Gandhi contesting the by-election.

The landslides that struck the Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha hamlets were devastating, leaving a trail of destruction and loss. The community is now focused on recovery and rebuilding, with relief efforts underway to support the survivors.
