TN Polls: BJP to contest in 27 seats, PMK in 18, Piyush Goyal expresses confidence of victory
The BJP’s election in-charge for the State described the alliance as a cohesive “family” and expressed confidence in the NDA’s prospects in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The BJP and Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led AIADMK had revived their alliance ahead of the 2026 polls, and talks are now focused on finalising the seat-sharing formula. Goyal reiterated that the alliance would present a development-oriented agenda, with emphasis on farmers, fishermen, MSMEs, industry, employment generation, start-ups, healthcare, education, and housing. He also projected Palaniswami as the alliance’s Chief Ministerial face. Polling in Tamil Nadu is scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 23, with counting on May 4. The outcome is expected to be crucial for the State’s political landscape as well as the NDA’s broader electoral strategy.
