BJP's Bhabanipur candidate Priyanka Tibrewal, who came face to face with sloganeering TMC supporters on Wednesday during her campaign for September 30 by-election, asserted that she would not get intimidated by such tactics. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the TMC nominee and Tibrewal's contender from the seat.

As Tibrewal entered a lane near Jadubabur Bazar during the day, a group of TMC supporters, which stood nearby, shouted 'Jai Bangla' and 'Mamata Banerjee Zindabad'.

"I will not succumb to such intimidation and continue to voice the problems people face under the TMC's terror regime in West Bengal," she stated.

Rejecting her allegation, West Bengal minister and senior TMC leader Firhad Hakim said that Tibrewal was "staging a drama" having understood that the BJP has no support base in the constituency.

"Priyanka is trying to instigate TMC workers in the area... I have asked them to exercise restraint," Hakim added.
