Global Outcry: Protests Erupt Over RG Kar Doctor’s Brutal Murder.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday alleged that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has hijacked the protests against the rape and murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital.

TMC MP Saket Gokhale took to social media platform X to announce the demise of seven patients, including a new born baby girl, who reportedly died amidst the junior doctors' strike in Kolkata.

"This is unacceptable and heartwrenching. About 7 patients have died (including a new born baby girl)due to the ongoing junior doctors' strike in Kolkata," Gokhale said while sharing a screenshot of a news report to support his claim.

He went on to accuse the state opposition party BJP of taking over the protests by doctors, alleging that the party wants to spread their propaganda in guise of supporting the doctors.

"BJP has hijacked the RG Kar protests for their political agenda. Despite SC orders, the strike continues. What’s strange is that the strike is against West Bengal Govt even though the RG Kar case is being probed by CBI with zero progress," Gokhale's post read on X.

Gokhale claimed that at least 5000 surgeries have been cancelled at government hospitals across the city due to the strikes. He further said that the people who are being deprived of surgeries are extremely poor and have no options but government hospitals for the treatment of their ailment.

"About 5000 surgeries at govt hospitals have been cancelled. Remember - these 5000 people are extremely poor & deprived who have no option but govt hospitals. Do their lives not matter? Did 7 poor people need to die for BJP’s agenda?" said Gokhale.

He highlighted the death of a seven-year-old baby girl who allegedly died due to no treatment amidst the protests in the city. He connected her death to the BJP and CBI, and accused the probe agency of deliberately delyaing the filing of a chargesheet into the matter.

"Does the new-born girl who died due to this “protest” not deserve justice? She had just opened her eyes & now she’s gone. BJP & CBI have blood on their hands in Bengal. CBI is delaying filing the chargesheet just to allow BJP to continue with their agenda," Gokhale wrote further.

Gokhale called the BJP a party filled with 'vile criminals', alleging that their intentions are policising the issue and nothing more.

"Only a monster without a soul would think that the life of a newborn girl can be sacrificed for a filthy political agenda. But that’s standard for the vile criminals of the BJP," Gokhale said.
