TMC slams Amit Shah over Jay Shah's refusal to wave tricolour

Attacking Union Home Minister Amit Shah and seeking Shah's resignation over an alleged video of Jay Shah refusing to wave the national flag yesterday after India’s victory against Pakistan. Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday slammed Amit Shah's son for not holding the Indian flag in Dubai."

"We saw yesterday, how after India’s victory against Pakistan in Dubai, the Home Minister’s son, Jay Shah, refused to hold our National Flag. The Union Home Minister taught us about nationalism and claimed to be the architects of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’. This was Jay Shah’s patriotism that he refused to hold the flag,” Banerjee lashed out at the Union Home Minister and his son.

Banerjee challenged Shah to either resign if he respects the national flag or disown his son or ask his son to apologise. “I want to challenge the Home Minister, if you have respect for our National Flag, ask your son to apologise or resign from your post,” Banerjee said, adding that it was sheer arrogance of Jay Shah. Banerjee was speaking at the Trinamool Congress Student wing’s foundation day today.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP top-level leaders blame the Opposition for ‘Parivartantra’. “Who is Jay Shah? Then how can Jay Shah become the General Secretary of the BCCI? I challenge BJP to bring legislation against nepotism and against Parivartantra, in which only one member from a family can come to politics. I will be the first one to vote,” Banerjee added.

Raising the issue of “BSF and CISF which are under Central Government’s jurisdiction”, Banerjee said, “It is under their nose that cattle smuggling and coal smuggling take place. Why doesn’t Amit Shah ask the BSF how the cattle are smuggled?”

Slamming the Union Home Minister, Trinamool National General Secretary vehemently attacked the Union Home Minister, saying, “Is the money going to Delhi directly? This is not a ‘cattle scam’, this is Home Minister’s corruption.”

He also mentioned the incident of rape of a woman in front of her child last week in North 24 Parganas district’s Bagda. “We have seen how Border Security Force jawans raped a woman. This is Narendra Modi and Amit Shah’s ‘New India’.”
