TMC pursuing double standards on the issue of corruption: BJP
KOLKATA: Accusing Trinamool Congress of pursuing "double standards" on the issue of corruption, BJP National Secretary Siddharth Nath Singh today asked why the Mamata Banerjee government is yet to initiate a probe into the Narada sting operation issue.

"TMC is pursuing double standards on the issue of corruption. In 2001 they had taken moral high ground but now have fallen completely silent on Narada. My question is why Mamata Banerjee is not initiating any action against her MPs and ministers. Why is she not asking for a CBI inquiry," he said.

Singh was referring to Banerjee's resignation in 2001 as railway minister of A B Vajpayee government for BJP-led NDA's 'inaction' against Samata Party leader and the then Defence Minister George Fernandes following a sting operation.

The BJP leader claimed that Banerjee is "fast losing ground" due to the issue of corruption and that is why she is making "emotional appeal as last ditch efforts to woo voters".

"There is a saying - action speaks louder than words. TMC is saying it is the most honest party while its leaders are seen accepting bribes," he said.
