TMC MP Tapas Pal granted bail for his rape remark
As the tape of his speech surfaced in July, it created a public outrage and petitions were filed in the Calcutta High Court against Pal.

On June 14, 2014, Tapas Pal, TMC MP from Nadia district, addressed a worker’s meeting and said, "If the men of the opposition parties touch any Trinamool girl, any father, any child, I will destroy their entire family. I will unleash my boys, they will rape them. "
As the tape of his speech surfaced in July, it created a public outrage and petitions were filed in the Calcutta High Court against Pal. After being directed by the High Court, Nakashipara police station in Nadia filed an FIR against Pal in July. The case was later handed over to CID. After almost nine months, CID submitted charge sheet and booked Pal under the sections -- 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
Today Pal, through his lawyer, moved an anticipatory bail petition and surrendered before the court. He was granted bail by the Krishnanagar court today. Gauri Dutta, TMC district president in Nadia told ET, "Tapas Pal discussed with the party before surrendering. The sections are bailable.
And the court had granted bail. Now onward, Pal can enter his constituency and do his political activities." Pal is a popular actor of Tollywood. He is a Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar constituency of Nadia distract in West Bengal.
