Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP from Bongaon Kapil Krishna Thakur (73) died today in a city hospital due to lung failure.

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Kapil Krishna Thakur (73) died today in a city hospital due to lung failure, hospital sources said.

"Kapil Krishna Thakur today came to our hospital at around 12.10 in a very critical condition. He passed away at 12.34 due to lungs failure," Belle Vue Clinic spokesperson P Tandon said.

Thakur, an MP from Bongaon North seat, was the elder son of Mautua Maa, the leader of Matua community which plays a deciding role in polls in Bongaon. He is survived by his wife. Thakur's younger brother Manjul Krishna Thakur is a minister in the Trinamool Congress state cabinet.
